She couldn’t seem to find the recipe for lemon cake and cake decorating books with instructions for the cake that was her mother’s favorite. She really wanted to serve it at the picnic. She smiled, glancing out at the new patio set with its umbrella and six chairs. It was the perfect color blue to match the gray brick patio they had finished last summer.
The blues and lavender shades of the flower beds were a lovely accent too. Soft and sweet smelling, they now swayed gently in the breeze. They were the perfect addition to the landscaping. She was especially proud to have planted them herself. They came in little plastic cartons similar to egg cartons and were easy to plant in the soft earth.
The blooming flowers and the neatly trimmed grass were perfect. Watered and trimmed bushes added to the scene. It would be a perfect family reunion out on the patio. She wanted to show her family all the improvements they had finished in and out of the house.
Taking her new Schwinn mountain bike out of the garage, she waved and smiled at the neighbor next door. She put on her backpack to carry the food home in. She rarely took the car to the grocery store in the summer. She enjoyed the exercise. She also felt she was contributing to conserving energy. As she rode down the street, she worried a little about the fact that rain forests were diminished every day.
She was dedicated to recycling, composting and buying products that came in recycled paper and plastic materials. Already she was discovering bags guaranteed to degrade within a certain number of years. Some new plastic degradable materials had been around for a long time now.
The companies who sold bottled water should figure out a way to make those bottles biodegradable too. There are so many of them sold all the time, it would give conservation a big boost. She did carry one herself as it was good to stay hydrated during any form of exercise.
She smiled at the memory of shopping and buying mountain bike. She loved the speed and lightweight of this bike. On weekends they loved to go out riding which included uphill rides. It was so much easier now. Her emerald green bike matched her helmet perfectly. She wore large sunglasses and some sunscreen too.
It was all part of being a neat and health conscious person. She contributed to abused animals, despised puppy mills and sent money to save the rain forests. It seemed as if she and Betty White were both animal lovers. She thought about the marvelous things Betty White could still do at the age of 87. It was nothing short of amazing and she hoped she would be as cool as a senior citizen.
