It’s Time To Change The Way We Eat And Exercise

Every generation of Americans seems to be larger than the previous generation. It is not about the booming population. The issue is about how much the average American weighs. Obesity is a major problem in our country. As a country we are spending more of our resources dealing with the ramifications of this issue than we have ever spent before. No one is safe from the effects of being overweight. The only way to avoid those issues is to get rid of the weight problem.

In 1776 our country’s forefathers started a revolution to break away from England. The only way left to fight the issues caused by being overweight could be a revolution like our forefathers started with a emphasis on changing the unhealthy lifestyle that we are accustomed to. This is not going to be solved by putting on a television show that has everyone following along with the host as they go through a workout of six pack ab exercises on a Saturday morning. This type of revolution will require a lot of work. America must realize that we need to alter our thoughts about the way that we eat. We glorify food and make it a centerpiece of many gatherings. The buffet spread is the most important part of any celebration and we work for days to make sure that it is perfect. It is possible to celebrate major events without having to have them centered around food. The time can be spent socializing. And socializing does not have to include having a plate of fried finger foods in your hand.

When we consider the need to alter the way we eat, we must also alter the way the young of our country are eating. There is no shortage of things to entice our children to develop bad eating habits because they appear to be a lot of fun to do when they are shown on commercials. School lunch programs have grown in popularity and they are now a major source of food for the young people in the country. But the meals consist of processed food that is easy to prepare but again, is not always healthy. It is not uncommon for them to serve French fries as one of the vegetables for children. It is important for kids to get foods from all the basic food groups, but they must also be the right types of foods so that the kids can learn what is really a healthy diet. Unless our kids start changing their eating habits, they will grow up and find themselves overweight only to be searching for a way to learn how to lose weight fast using some fad diet that might even cause more issues than the weight did in the first place. All of this can be avoided if children are taught the importance of proper nutrition at a young age.

One thing that has improved in this country is the ability to communicate. This could be our most effective tool to begin the change. By understanding how much our bodies are affected by what and how much we eat, a person is apt to follow the guidelines to a healthier body. The internet is full of a wealth of information and has sites such as the biggest loser forum that are dedicated to helping people live a healthier lifestyle by sponsoring chat rooms to discuss all of the issues surrounding weight loss and eating right and exercising. The more people that are recruited, the more we can alter the weight of the country. It is possible to get people excited about the prospect of a healthier life.

Our nation must now do something to ease the burden we are placing on ourselves. Action must be taken. Adults must realize that they are setting an example that can harm the children of the country. We must teach the importance of a good diet. Restaurants and schools must stop worrying about serving the most convenient food, and start serving the right food to our children. When this is done, the adults will get healthier and the children will understand the need to be healthy. There is a place for the luxuries that we enjoy through food. Food should not always be the most important thing about a every gatihering. We must do something like this different. We can’t wait any longer.
