Are You A Candidate For A Weight Loss Show

May 07, 2010 By: HappyDieting Category: Atkins Diet And Philosophy

Do You enjoy seeing other people on the Biggest Loser? Do you get a thrill from seeing the participants engage in a weekly battle to survive. There have been many discussions on the internet at chat rooms such as biggest loser weight loss forum talking all about the show and how it makes people struggling with weight loss feel. Many say they can’t bear to watch because of the ongoing public humiliation they experience participants going through. A lot of the talk is about the editing process and how it makes a person appear when they are shown. It’s a television program fat people have strong feelings about.
The problem with the show is that it is in the end entertainment. Because of this, the show sends out a lot of messages to people that are not true. All that counts in The Biggest Loser is weight loss. The idea is to go through a very rapid weight loss and see who can lose more than any one else. Whether this is healthy for a person to do is not important. The show reminds us that you have to suffer to get what you want. There is no doing things in a sensible way. The message is that if they don’t resort to drastic measures they cannot succeed in their weight loss. This is not always the healthy way for a person to lose weight. A person does not have to take on a drastic diet and exercise plan to lose weight, they can do just as well if they learn to eat right and start a six pack ab exercise program as long as they commit themselves to seeing it through until they get the results they desire.
One issue that is faced by the show is how they entice contestants to lose weight on the show. This is not always the best way for someone to lose weight. Without anything dangled in front of them a person will not stick with the good habits needed to maintain their weight loss. The only thing that the contestants are judged on is their percentage of weight they lose. What is rewarded and applauded is the most massive and rapid weight loss. The show is keeping up the myths that have existed about overweight people for what seems like forever. Things like you can’t lose weight too fast. Someone who sees this at home might try to imitate it without the safety nets that the show has. Losing the weight in this manner can be unsafe.
The show treats all people as the same regardless of their body types. Different people with different body types can lose weight at significantly different rates. If two people change the way they eat and exercise, the weight will come off their body differently. The winner of the show is determined by the numbers, not by who has learned how to live healthy. The contestants on the show are teaching people how to win a game as much as to change their lives. If a person wants tips and tactics about a weight loss plan that does work take a look at the site http://www.fatlossfactor.com where a person can discover many clues that are helpful in getting the healthy body that they want.

Going from overweight to fit and trim in a relatively short time means nothing in the end. When the cameras stop rolling, what does someone who was on the Biggest Loser do? Many times the pounds that were lost reappear on their bodies. The external reward is based only on results. The things they did to lose the weight were not part of the regular lifestyle. You have to make the habit and attitude changes necessary or you won’t sustain what you lost.
If you decide that you want to be the Biggest Loser than that is okay. Before you do it, understand what it would be like. Make your goals based on the fact that it is entertainment. You will gain instant popularity because you were on television. But getting healthy requires a person to change their mindset in life and the show is not about that.
