Get Off The Diet Rollercoaster

April 15, 2010 By: HappyDieting Category: Burn Fat or Carbs

One of the worst things about being fat is that you are always on a diet. They find a way to lose the extra pounds, but somehow the pounds seem to come back with a vengeance. It seems like you don’t get to enjoy the lost pounds before the pounds reappear and send you back on another diet. I recently discovered a website called the biggest loser forum where there were scores of people who were talking about all of the struggles that they were facing because they were overweight, and I decided it was time to find a solution to the problem.

My first stop was the internet. In addition to information that I could find on the chat rooms, I also found a bunch of information on diets that were available including many diets that promised to teach me how to lose weight fast and told me I could have the body I desired in just a short time with no effort. I had serious doubts about whether these plans could get me to lose the weight in the ways that they advertised. According to my research if I took these herbs, my body would be cleansed of the impurities that are in it. When you detox your body it helps also cleanse your body of fat and other things that contribute to a person’s problem of being overweight. In addition to taking the medicine these plans also often expect you to eat in a certain way that is not always easy to follow. They stated that the diets were used in conjunction with a diet and exercise program. If I was going to go on a diet and have to get some exercise, I didn’t need some pill that I wasn’t sure how safe it was. Another problem with these types of weight loss plans was I didn’t want to gain the pounds back once I was finished with it. I decided to find another way to lose weight.

I noticed that most weight loss plans centered around two simple ideas, that you had to watch what you eat and find a way to work out on a regular basis. If I limit the amount of food I take in and increase the amount of exercise I did, then I would lose weight. It didn’t seem to be hard. The truth is that it is not an easy process. It is not easy to do when you are faced with all of the choices that a person looks at every day that will ruin any diet. When confronted with these obstacles, many people find themselves taking the easy way out. I wondered if I would have to get up early every morning to prepare a special diet for the day and still have time to do a bunch of six pack ab exercises in order for me to get a healthy body that I desired, or if there was an easier way to accomplish my goals.

I knew that I had to make the choice to get fit and healthy. I was tired of being called the fat guy and was determined to change it. My life wasn’t going to improve if I just sat around all day, so I chose to get up and deal with the problem. So I started planning. I decided that my diet would include regular foods instead of a special plan. The difference was that I would cook the food in healthier ways and make sure that my portions were smaller. I chose to avoid food that was high in fats and calories. I also decided to stop dinking as much. I opted to cook my meals myself instead of eating out a few times a week. I chose to make sure the food that I put into my body was healthy for me. I also increased the amount of physical activity I was getting. If I put the time into my schedule, I would work out. I was going to get fit and healthy no matter what it took.

I began to see the results. My waistline was getting noticeably smaller and I was able to fit into my clothes easier. The new foods that I was eating tasted good and I enjoyed getting outside and exercising. Instead of hanging out at the bar or local pizza place, I met some great people at a fitness club. Instead of starting a diet that would get rid of some weight for a short time, I was doing things that got rid of the weight and were keeping it off. I knew what I had to do to eliminate the yo-yo process that I had been stuck in for years. I just had to trade in my bad habits for some good ones.
