Exercise Program

April 30, 2009 By: admin Category: Exercise Program, Health and Fitness, Weight Loss Exercise

Getting an exercise routine together can be very difficult if you have not done it before.

A lot of people grow up with exercise programs, starting off in school football or track, and learning to exercise on their own after they gave up on intramural sports. For those of us who did not grow up as active, however, it can be difficult to stay in shape on our own.

This is why it can be so useful to have a personal trainer or at least an exercise class to get you going.

No one in my family grew up with an exercise program. We were intellectual to the point where we sort of looked down on physical activity. When we were kids, we like to run around, play tag, and stay active that way, but as we got older, we became more sedentary.

I was in reasonably good shape because I would go to concerts and dance there, but I never had any sort of exercise program. That is why, as I got into my mid-20s, I started to get in really bad physical shape.

Going to the doctor for a checkup was sort of a reality check for me. I learned that my blood pressure was too high, I was overweight, and I was at elevated risk for a number of different health problems. My doctor told me to get an exercise program together, and I intended to immediately.

I thought I would go jogging on my own, but it just didn’t seem to happen. I would skip days or cut my exercise routine instead of going for the whole time. Finally, I knew I needed outside help.

I started with an exercise class. I figured that going to an aerobics course twice a week would be enough to get started. Pretty soon, I was going three and then four times each week.

My exercise program was really going into high gear. I was using some weight loss software to help me keep track of how effective my exercises were, and generally getting more serious about keeping in shape. I even ended up moving to the next step and getting a personal trainer.

It took me a while, but now I’m finally in shape and really enjoying myself. I’m in my late 20s, but I’d have to say that I’m in the best shape of my life. Starting an exercise program frustrating, and slow to get started, but it was worth it in the long run.
